I need a bath!

XXXXXXXXX

I have some rural property with a creek and need ideas on how to set up a bath.
I bought an on-demand propane water heater and I have a gasoline powered water pump.
It seems that the heater requires water pressure equaling a storage tank 22' high.

My first thought is to set a 55 gallon barrel on 4 20' pipe legs (with lots of cross bracing)
Can you come up with better ideas?  Thanks

Where I live and today temperature got up to 75
degrees couple of solar heated water bags on a hot
south roof would have worked.

Hi,
You have a creek -- jump in :)

If the location gets some sun, there are some very simple solar water heating systems that might work fine for you.

On this page, have a look at the "batch" water heaters, and also at the "solar showers" area.  There are free plans for a half a dozen different schemes for each.
One of the thermosyphon solar water heaters would be another possibility, as they don't need a pump or power to run.

For a construction trailer, I have seen plastic tanks of about 80 to 100 gallon.  They are batch filled, and a pump keeps the tank pressurized with air from the top to keep the water system pressurized.  It is toggled on and off via pressure switches which are commercially available from grainger or other sources, analogous to how an air compressor operates.  The down side is that it is a batch process, the tank has to be depressurized and refilled with potable water periodically.  Rich

for camper trailers they just use a 12v pressure pump with pressure switch you can buy one at rv dealer

I have an on-demand propane water heater and I also lived a couple years in a trailer with the 12v pressure pump setup. I haven't used them both together though. However, I don't see why it wouldn't work. As long as you can push enough water through the heater to get it to turn on and stay on, you should be OK. My heater requires .75 gpm to start up and .65gpm to keep heating. Yours may be different. If you can set the temperature down low enough to just use hot water for that shower, you should be able to do it even with low flow (1.5gpm) shower heads.

i still do not see why he does not buy the coleman propane fired portable hot water system with optional shower hose attachment instead of trying to rig something up it comes with a pump intake hose rechargeable battery all in a box the size of a suitcase be exactly what he is looking for

I thank everyone for the comments.
I have been looking thru garygarys suggestions.

It seems that my post was not clear.
"I have some rural property with a creek and need ideas on how to set up a bath.

In other words I have a creek and I have the coleman propane fired portable hot water system with optional shower hose attachment  that Kurt mentioned.
It requires water pressure to function.
The pressure could be attained by having a tank 22' above ground.
I have a gasoline powered pump to fill the tank.
My first thought is to set a 55 gallon barrel on 4 20' pipe legs (with lots of cross bracing)

I just dont know how to say this more clearly.

is there any way to put a hose bib in the supply line before it reaches the tank and use the pressure from the pump to take your shower? you could adjust the pressure to the hose bib by choking off the supply to the tank with a valve. pepa.

another thought, the hose bib would come in handy if you had a fire or needed to wash something down. pepa.

Pepa I have thought of running the gasoline pump and the propane heater at the same time.
It just seems so wasteful.
I think the gas pump would be used  more wisely to fill a tank
the tank could have a cold water hose bib
I prefer a bath to a shower if its  possible

I can tell you 55 gallons ain't a whole lot... later.
It is great for a shower.
Then a flush toilet seems like a no-brainer.
Then the wife wants to do dishes in hot water. (usually it is me in hot water)
Next thing you know, you are running the pump every night.

I can also tell you a couple more feet makes a big difference in the perceived pressure.

Might want to go 25' with 2 barrels.
I have an old photo of something like that in my files.  Somewhere.

A small house with lots of porch!  I like it
I hadn't thought of laying the barrels down
Thanks for the picture

Did the barrels make the water rusty?

I figured out what to do!
Gotta keep it simple,
so I will use the gasoline powered pump to fill the tub
then use a 12 volt pump to pump out of the tub to the propane powered water heater
which will supply hot water back to the tub
