A simple tool to measure cable tension

Hey Dan and Dan,
Just finished your book, an excellent read. In the section about towers you mention that there is no way to determine how much tension is in a guy wire, I know of a tool that could help you out. Performance sailors use these gauges to tune the standing rigging for the masts of their boats. Its a pretty simple device that just clips onto the wire and measures how hard it is to bend it a slightly. Below is a link to a page I found describing them, but I am sure there is a lot more info out there.

Hope this helps,
Ben

Woof--followed your link, and looked at some of your pics.  Awsome.
Had to hold on to chair with one hand though.  I don't do heights.  I do
envy those who can.

A SIMPLE WIRE TENSION METER
Build it yourself for about $5.00
I would guess a cables a cable, this should work, it's cheap enough. It'd works for the HT 12.5 gauge wire I use doing the cattle fencing. try the link.
