Special thanks to Rex and LaVonne

My own system and I am excited to see this now on-line.

This was in print a while back and  now it is on-line here at http://www.countrysidemag.com/issues/92/92-4/using_wind_energy_for_direct_water_heating.html

Special thanks go out to Rex and LaVonne Ewing for writing this article as well as the co-operation of all involved with producing this and many other fine publications found here at www.pixyjackpress.com

Thank you to all here at otherpower who helped me along the way as well.  Dave B.

Be proud

Thank you Oztules, all of this was a long time in the making. I built my home 16 years ago and dreamed about it a good 10 years before that. Now the dream is being "off grid" which will take more time and money again but like this goal, I'll make it. Thanks again,  Dave B.

Dave,

Nice article!

Congratulations on helping to spread the technologies that you are using.

What's next on your list of things to do?

That's awesome Dave.  I happen to live on the highest point in erie county, PA, about 1 hour west of you.  Unfortunately, the wind is hard to reach above all the trees and high tension power lines ( and regulatory rules).  I live at roughly 1440 ft and the lake is about 580 ft I think. Your wind source must be awesome in the winter as the lake effect snow buries your home.

Thank you for the comment. Yes, you should know all about the winds yourself where you are located as well. I am a couple miles NW of the highest point in Chautauqua County and a good spot for sure. Several new projects in the works and photos soon to follow. Thanks again for your posting, this was a great thing seeing my story in print.  Dave B.

Great article, and what a gorgeous place to live.
I noticed that you have one of those evil reverse-osmosis water filters in your water system.  I had an impossible time getting people from culligan "Call-again" to come out to my house and service it properly.  Have you had any trouble with yours?  Do you test your water regularly?

Steven,

Thank you for your comments, I am fortunate to be where I am for sure. That is actually a water softener system with just a main inline filter. Water is hard in the area but very good straight out of the ground. An average well around my place is around 100'. Checking my water would be a good idea, I've been here 16 years and had it tested when I moved in. Thanks again for checking out the article, I have to admit it's exciting to see it there.  Dave B.

Testing your water regularly is kind of like getting a prostate exam regularly.  You're just increasing your chances of finding something that isn't going to hurt you!
I only test regularly because there are natural gas wells in my area.

My house had one when I moved in.  My trouble was that after tests, purges, disinfectants and purple water (I'm not kidding!) for several weeks I still couldn't get clean water.  After calling out the Culligan man twice (expensive out of town fees), the guy came out, turned a dial and went home.  Never did a bit of good.

I finally figured out that I had to rip the bloody thing out of the house, and that solved my problems.  My water has been clean and soft ever since!  I cannot figure out why it was in the house in the first place.

JMK,

Thank you, I am still quite psyched about seeing my article on-line and wanted to share it with those here who certainly helped make it happen. I appreciate your compliment.  Dave B.
