I got home yesterday at about noon (I'd been visiting my parents for "lamb marking"). On the way I stopped off at my local rubbish dump to see if they had any useful meatl scrap, etc. For the very reasonable sum of $10 I collected 2 corrugated iron water tanks, numerous bits and pieces of steel pipe and angle, an old stationary exercise bike (thought it might make a good base for a human-powered demo generator), a couple of 15' lengths of 2.5" pipe, and the best find of all - a complete 2" windmill water pump (caps, casing, plunger and both foot valves).
Combined with this:

All I need now is a free tower and some water to pump, and I'll be set! ;-)
Unfortunately when I went to have a look at my dam I discovered that one of my neighbour's sheep had managed to get bogged in the mud at the bottom (no water left) and drowned. I thought it was quite sad that her lamb had followed her in and drowned as well. :-(
Anyhoo, I managed to get a rope around her neck & drag her out with my truck (she was stuck in there pretty tight). Welcome back to farming!
