It seems to only let me put one picture on at a time..

It is a Volvo spindle. 11 1/4 brake rotors, 2x1x1/2 magnets, 48 volt, 9 coils of 140 turns of 17# wire. I used a 'Yield' sign for a tail, which I will be changing as it seems too small and I think aluminum will crack to easy. I mounted the blades and hub assembly yesterday and proceeded to balance it only to find it needed no balancing whatsoever, both tracking and balance were dead on.I unleased it in about a 10 mile an hour wind and it took off like crazy, I shut it down and went to get a test meter etc, and the wind immediatly went down.Overall I'm very pleased this is the most satisfying and exciting projects I've done, many thanks to Danb and everyone who answered or commented on all my questions. Hopefully I'll get some test results shortly. I painted it up because it will be displayed in town at a couple places before it goes up to about 52 feet sometime in April or May.

Nice job, I agree about the tail even if it doesn't yield it looks to be rather small.

Where are you??  Looks like the Canadian Prairies?  I agree with electron, you might not need to go that high.

Yes I'm in Southern Saskatchewan, about 100 miles north of Montana border. This windmill wont be installed here tho, it will be a few miles away in a slightly lower location. It may not need to go too high tho from some of the output I've seen at 12 feet.I'm trying to make sense of some of the test results I'm getting, I'm not sure what it's 'supposed' to be getting at different rpms. The wind won't co-operate. But it looks promising.
