VW/Leland Powerplant

Well it been a few months, but I finally managed to get to Leland altinator hooked up to the power steering pully on my VW Jetta diesel. Works pretty slick, even though some of it is not mounted perminently yet. There's no tach in the jetta so I'm guessing at RPMs but at about 1800 it puts out 110+. I've had it up to 140v but didn't go any more that was probabley around 2000-2200 RPM. The interesting thing that I found is if I let the jetta run just above idle it puts out a nice steady 32v. Now I gotta figure out if I want to power something directly( like my BD processor) at 115vac or set up a 24vdc battery bank, inverter, etc and just let it idle for a few hours a day. All will be temporary for now as I intend on pulling the motor and building a stator to fit the bell housing bolt pattern then mounting magnets on the flywheel. Haven't really even started designing that yet, just an idea. Power for my BD processor (heat oil run pumps etc) power for my shop, and heat for my shop recovered from cooling systemand exhaust. Sounds and looks good in my dreams (my wife says I talk about this stuff in my sleep) hope it all works out in reality.

Well just a quick update on the Leland altinator I posted about sometime ago.

Oh ya I'll have more specs soon, fried another meter. I guess from now on I disconnect the leads before I switch modes:-( I just wanted to see a Htz reading cource I had to go by amps on the way there---pow--- well I guess it was putting 10amps to the battery. Back to The Shack to get another one. I think I'll put the service plan on this one though, I have a habit of distroying them.
