new idea my way
« on: June 23, 2005, 06:09:36 AM »

I have been watching attic turbines here in California's central valley for some time,in the turbines will turn with little or no wind because of heat given off of the houses.Figuring on starting with one rotor and stater, using #16 wire with magnets from windstuff, bearings above and below rotor stater.I am using magnets on the bottom for repelling to reduce weight on the turbine. The wind here is about 5-10 mph. I'm adding a solar oven(small one) under the turbine to help draw air to the turbine. My house has a three level roof and all three turbines turn 95% of the time, the of the turbines just clear the tip if my roof.I am planing to raise my first turbine high enough to clear the highest roof.

this my first time here and I feel like I'm chumming for sharks and I'm the chum, here sharky sharky.

violation?

I always thought of Kalifornia as the heart of hair-brained ideas.  I belive this fits, although he may be violating a building code or, that unwritten code, 'Thou shall do nothing trying to benefit mankind'.

Your idea has been considered.  The difference is that a long chimney to get up to the faster moving (lower pressure) air was proposed.  the air going into the bottom was then to be heated.  A turbine was to be placed in the chimney.  Seems to me they were going to try it Down Under.  That's all I know.  You need to get a reasonable volume of air moving fast enough to get any usable power.  Maybe you should make a structure independent of the house to check it out.

most of my ideas start out hair-brained and change as I go along, maybe that is why I'm starting to look like Friar Tuck.

GeaM; thanks for the heads up, now to find the people from Down Under so as not to stomp on toes. not knowing where to look for the is my problem to start with.

having a venturi system above the solar oven could help with lower pressure air,

as for structure on the ground would is better to start with than up and down a ladder.

              thank for info.     Ron

The australian towers were of fairly monumental design -- they were anticipating building the largest man-made structures if the plan went ahead.
