So Much for Using a Reputable dealer For R.E.
« on: December 25, 2005, 07:38:03 AM »
Hiya Guy's,

Well in less than 2 years since I invested $25,000 on a standalone solar array the system is just about buggered. On many occasions the solarshop based in Adelaide where I bought the system from had to come back to my place to set the system up properly. Almost a month ago my wife rang up to say we had major problems and was told pay $250 upfront before we come out to look. Now the main problem is the Selectronic SA32 inverter was never set correctly when installed, so my 12-600amp/hour gell cell batteries no longer hold their voltage and we can't monitor the input and output from the array. When I get legal advise I'll see if I can post up their so called warranty conditions as they are a joke. I'm dealing with Selectronic direct and hopefully they will supply a new inverter but then I still have to go after those **heads and get my batteries replaced under warranty. I'll keep up on the posts as I go along with this debacle but it really is frustrating to left on your own in less than 2 years on investing nearly a years wages with a so-called govt credited company for R.E.

Cheers Ruddycrazy<------ well I was to use that mob it seems

Bummer

Have you filed a complaint with the government or at lease threaten to.

That outfit depends on government credits as part of its sales pitch.

You mite be able to use that for  some leverage.

Best of luck

I'm saddened by your news.  If the government there wants to promote renewable energy, which is a good thing, then this company is doing a discredit to that effort.  I would attempt to garner as much attention to the problem from the government and public as possible.  It sounds to me like you may have had one part fail (or be improperly installed) that caused a cascade of problems, if the inverter wasn't set properly, and allowed the batteries to be drained repeatedly and ruined, the battery company may not want to do much for you as really the problem was not theirs.  My experience on non-RE type systems is that each company that makes part of a system typically blames another company involved.  If the whole system was warranted by the installer, and the problems appear to be do to an installation error on their part, then by all means do what is necessary to enforce the terms of the contract and to help them do the right thing.  Best of luck with that difficult situation.  At least the panels are all right though and that's got to be about 2/3rds of the cost of such a system.  Rich Hagen

As a fellow Selectronic inverter owner (SE32) I would be interested in knowing what was set wrong in the inverter that caused your system failure.
