So far so good

Well some times you have an idea you like to see if it works. So i have tried it and so far so good i have know idea if it will work but i will try to complete it and take it for a "ride" i hope.

whats it made from--metal grindings and epoxy?

you could drill a hole at the bottom of each slot to hold more wire..

how many winds per coil are you going for and what size?

Hiker, Willib Thanks for your comments.


Its made of Somalyo 550 and polyester resin its quit heavy but not as heavy as steel.


I did the slots 25 mm deep and 5 mm wide i did not want to go deeper or wider fo fear that the will break. So i think the slots with insulation will hold at least 4 mm by 20 mm of space to the wire. I am thinking of covering the slots with more somaloy and resin for less cogging and reinforce it with fiberglass at the top.


I will use 1mm magnet wire. And having a 24 volts battery bank so i may go for that or for the highest voltage i can get and use it for heating there are 24 poles so i have 50HZ at 250 rpm. There will be 12 coils per phase i can put them all in series or some in parallel.


I dont know how many watts it will put out but i hope some 3-4Kw

I like that.  That's for a single-rotor design?  If you made the center a bit more shallow do you think you could go dual rotor and still keep the slotted stator design or would the casting get too weak?  Hrm...  You've got me thinking now.  :)

Its for a single rotor i dont know if it will work with iron in a dual rotor? I hope that i have given you a good idea.

Its iron powder special made for generators and motor parts. Its made for pressing with very high pressure and then heat it up to some 500c then it becomes a metal with 3d flux.

I have done some testing before and somaloy and polyester resin seams to bond very well. But then its all a experiment any way.
