Having fun with the wind. Windstuff ed`.s sign out I like it. I have been following this board for about six months, my son brought me an article about the wind generator on a sailboat and ask me if I would build him one as an assist to the solar panels.(he lives on a sail boat) the article described the gene using a pm motor with metal blades and pvc plastic fittings, we found the same type motor on ebay and put one together using a 30v motor and pvc blades cut from a 8" pipe(40"dia.) the 8" hub was cut from the thickness of 1/2 "heavy gage aluminum, it produced 28v and six amps at our average wind speed on a 42` pole. we were very pleased with it. So I built two more for myself then I was hooked and have been building three more with deferent size motors and gear ups. Now I am building a big homebrew and I will be asking for a lot of help. The 42 ft. pole is a fiberglass composites and is a tilt up, the second is a 52ft. And buried five ft. for a 47ft. Exposed fiberglass pole that I can change genes out on in about 30min. Very easy on an old man and a lot easier than the tilt up. More later on that with pictures included. the third one that pole that i am putting up will be 60ft exposed with the same setup as the 42ft. i was very fortunate to get mu hands on about thirty of these poles, most of them will be cut into strips for pasture fence rails. thanks for dropping by, pepa
