My Magnets
« on: January 24, 2006, 09:05:24 PM »
My magnets showed up a moment ago, Yea Hoo,!!!

But they didn't come from "Wondermagnet.com".

thats because I had some "Amazon.com" Money (Gifts from Brothers, X-mas).

After researching for a bit I figured out that I'd better order A.S.A.P.,

Because Stuff there didn'y stay very long.

After thinking it thru, I ordered 3 each of the 100 pc. 1/2"X1/16" round units.

I'd figured that that would give me the most area for the money I had to spend.

Well the units measure out at .078 X .492, a bit less than a half and over a sixteenth.

Well now I've got them, I'm happy to say that they are polarized on the faces.

With 300, I can stack 7 to be just over a 1/2" by 3 long for just under a 1.5", lets see thats 63 diveded 300= 4.76. That won't work.

  1. x3=9, thats 33.33, maybe that would work, O-well Thats where I'm at now,
  2. 1/16"x1/2" N40's
  3. HD neo's, (some dbl poled on face some single)
  4. Microwave ones

A bunch of ceramic's in many sizes, from Huge speaker ones to small worthless ones.

A box full of old computer speakers, (thinking about some use of the mag's)

good thing I'm still playing with PM motors, (one up with two getting close and one 28Lb "Controlled motion Inc." unit that I'm still playing with getting the control off the end to just hopfully have a PM motor when thru).

But do have, 4, 7" saw blades, 3, 10" and one 12", so far.

Keep those saw blades..they come in handy if you want to make one of these small mills

I have all the pictures of this unit in "My Files".I will try to put one here for you to show the saw blades I used to put on a water pump.At the time I built this I didn't have much money to buy anything so I used what I had.

I could only afford small magnets as you can see in the pics.I used tiger hair body fill for the stator and built it just as you would with the car rotors. and I can tell you right now, it would take a lot of magnet power to bend one of these blades.

This works good.My wife calls it the "saw up the pole".have fun.

Dave

If the picture doesn't work go to my files and click on MVC 909f.

hi , Ding again. Did you go to my files and have a look at mvc909? Haven't mastered getting them in my posts yet.sorry.

I am going to wrap door trim around them ,the same thing used on vehicle doors so they won't chip other vehicles.I don't really think that this will ba a danger to anyone when it is finished, it will be encased in a vented aluminum cage. I don't know what the neighbours are saying now...and I don't know what they will say when there is car parts up there. That's why we have this site. It is to help eaxh other with these problems. Thanks null

I don't get it?

Whats with the automotive water pump?

Just used for bearing and hub/mount set-up maybe?

Anyway, I have a trailer hub, 5-hole lug, but lack the spindle.

I will probebly end ordering one when ready.

I also use what I have or can scrounge up, tonight I was looking for ceiling fan blades or mounts at local light store and all I got was a couple of Outside type lights, (fancy housing n mount), a Wall Dimmer switch, a sweet little "Omnitronix Inc""9F85" "Cabinet Light", (Cord tags state use with Power Supply OMN-60L or E60T, but after opening it up and reading the bulb info, {12V/20W}, but end of cord states 24V~6A.)

"Risk of exposure to Excessive UV Radiallon", WHat everthat means? I must get to online searches for this little guy, (sweet pyramid brushed aluminum housing, 5" H x 5"W base)

Hey Ding,

How does that Tiger Hair pour, like between the wires, into cloth, etc?

Also, what is the magnet disk / axel assembly in you 899 photo?

That picture MVC 899...is just a picture of free windings I took out of an old

ceiling fan motor.I was going to do a conversion with it but it wouldn't work,

so I took a grinder and cut the windings from it.

As far as the tiger hair goes, you have 7 to 10 minutes to work with it.They sell short strand tiger hair and long strand tiger hair. You don't pour it, as such.

You mix up the whole quart ,scrape it all out of the can, put in as much hardener as desired ,get your form ready and push it into your windings using plastic on the bottom and plastic on the top with a piece of plywood to weigh it down.I only tried it because it was inexpensive and it worked for me. Some people say you can mix tiger hair with fiberglass for super strength.Hope this answers your question.
