well the people in china and some desert countries used to use the north side of a wall or building (shaded) to make ice in the winter, just spray it with water at night or day if its really cold and then chip it off later, and bury it underground a few feet, if you go deep enough and collect enough ice, and insulate it well enough you can have ice all year :-) or you could just get a plastic tray, fill it with water and throw it in the freezer, or buy it from your local retailer.
