Trim Blades
« on: February 08, 2006, 05:25:48 PM »
After I started to surf this site, (Daily and about Hourly), not that thats BAD, :)

And I was building a solar collector box to play with heating water, using the stuff that didn't make it into my "Liquid Cooled Computer".

I was looking thru my collection of salvaged trim stock for some to hold the glass-cover and I noticed that I had quit a few pieces that looked like Air-Foils.

Well that started my the gears to turning! lol!

These are the first ones I mounted to a hub, Allmost stock shape.

I have a different set that was what started all this. Needed much more modding to get to a Air-Foil Profile but should be much better.

Next will show pic's

These are allmost stock shape.

I've mounted on "TrendMill Motor" and held in a light wind. They started turning and I feel that they are going to work.

I've added an aluminum reinforcement to the backside's of the blades, to strengthen the mounting.

But am still sanding of them to get balance, (weighting each blade), one is still about 9 grams heavy, others are with-in 1 gram of each other.

The other blades are a better Profile but am still thinking about a hub for them. They are shorter and with either I have enough to go up to 6 blades if I had the proper HUB.
