pm motors at surplus center www.surpluscenter.com]
« on: February 26, 2006, 03:33:17 AM »
i was wondering if any body has used any of thease pm dc motors for windgenerators, and also which would be the best,at say 24v. i am not a electrican. and new to this. i bought acerage in a remote place in mo. hooking to the grid will be to expensive. be nice not to have a power bill every month anway. i'm building a hugh piggot 10' generator right now,it probbaly wont produce quite enough power,so im always looking for something new and a little easier to build. had a little mishap with my set of 2"x1"x1/2"thick n40 nickel magnets, broke one.does any one have one or two i could buy? need to finish my project, and start working on my tower.oh couldn,t put this in title.[www.surpluscenter.com]or 1-800-488-3407.   thanks,  johnnyo

" i bought acerage in a remote place in mo."

Fancy that, and I just happened to buy a Motor home and like remote camping and building gennies :)

Well neighbor what part are you in, I am South Central MO.

As for the DC motors some are better than others, some work good, some not too good.

Need info about the motor to figure if it would be good or not.

Best are brushless and with bearings. Motor voltage, rated speed as a motor, amps, HP etc.. are usefull info.

Well like I said, Neighbor :)

If you get down this way for awhile send me an e-mail, if I am around we'll get together and do something if you want. Maybe build a gennie or raise a tower or just go get coffee.

Sounds like you would be about my area, maybe less than an hours drive or bit more depending how the roads run between us.

For those magnets you need I can't help, but wondermagnet.com (our forum hosts above) sell lots of neos, check them. I know they sell that size, not sure if higher than N35 though. I've bought stuff from them and they are great. If they don't have what you need then check E-bay, I know they are on there from various dealers but I have not bought from any of them.

johnnyo,

I need an email address. I can probably spare a magnet.  I've read the thread two or three times and don't see a way to contact you.

Be sure and obscure your email addreess where the auto harvesrters can't read it.

I've had good luck with this guy - he usually has everthing in stock that his website claims:

https://www.magnet4sale.com/xcart4/product.php?productid=16302&cat=255&page=3

Also, next month he will be selling imported fiberglass blade sets (Chinese).

I have no financial interest in the above seller, he's just familiar to me because we're located in the same town.
