Jerry,

Will you be covering the downwind side of the F&P unit?  If not, I'm worried about the exposed wiring around the rectifiers.  Could you hose it down with some clear poyurethane or something?

Hi RP

Yes I've allready done that. Acctully did 3 coats. Its clear so you can't see it.

Should be able to hose it down. I'll know soon enough, hope to have it up on the tower in a day or 2. I'm in Oregon and we're still getting plenty O rain.

The down wind thing will be fun to watch? You don't have to worry about the blades hitting the mast. With that bearing in yaws real easy.

Glad to see you doing something with that F&P! I don't think I would have got far.

Sure wish you could get someone to help you get on irc so we could pick your brain some.

Cheers.

Hi G.

I used Rust-Oleum  American Accents clear top coat. It says Non-Yellowing and UV resistant.

I know its not heat resistant but I don't think there will be any heat in this alt.

I'm still in a search mode for that red heat proof motor/coil varnish.

Hi TomW.

It took along time  HU. Well thats the way it is here. Its like I tell some folks around here. A 2 day project only takes 6 months here.

Allways losts of busy going on.

Thanks for the invite. I've looked at the IRC acouple times but was intimidated and couldnot negociate getting in. You know computers and me don't get along.

I read the requierments of what I needed to do and the software or hardware I needed but that stuff all sounds like a forign language to me. It might as well been in chineez.

Also I only have one finger that types so it would be hard to keep up in real time?

I do thank you for the invite. Its hard to teach an old dog new tricks. I may still get there some day? All I need is time and a coach.

Thanks again Tom.

Jerry,

Thanks for photos. I hope the washing machine bearing at the prop side will hold up. The one at the F&P side is strong enough.

Anyway, without trying we shall never know.

Jerry,

Tell us how you are going to untwist your wires. Great job! Might try downwind too.

At one time I had 14 wind gennys on my store roof. Some had been up there 5 years. I fly 7 gennys at home same kinda time frame. All my wind gennys have wires going down the center of the mast. I've never had a wire twist problem.

It works for me.
