oddness
« on: May 23, 2006, 08:55:31 PM »
yea, i been doing alot of rummaging now that i quit my job, marketbaskes it hopeless, i found 3 really large nicad batteries that are about 5lbs each, there fun and have 1.3v each but i havent tried to charge em yet, i found a deep discharge marine battery and it was @ 6v but i put my 22v panel on it and now its

@ a charge opf 12.84v and spins a 24v motor as fast as the new deep discharge bnatteries i have. im a little reluctant of addint it to my system yet but im gunna experiment with it more first. i read that post on how to make a battery arc weldier and thats mainly why i wanted the marine battery. i want to make my own turbines and wtowers with it. i lubed up the genny i have and now it catches alot more wind, good ol wd-40 spins alot easier now. does anyone have any knowlage of wether i should try to use pieces f coathangers as tips for the weldier or not abecause theres no way i can find tips this week and i eally want top try it out this weekend/ also, i still needa know if making a voltage myltiplier is a good idea, i want to make a tazer that runs offa SOME SMALL BATTERIES. WHAT ELSE? i missed school today and i think i cumed outta my classes again for the 2nd time this year. i dont see why attendance is important if u have an a-b average. idk how do you awesome people get out of depression?

Coat hanger wire is pretty useless as an electrode unless you have a shielding gas which I think is unlikely based on your post. Wait to weld until you get real welding rods.

you are alone, but you are not the only one. the guy at the gas station, the lady in the office window, the housewife, the garbage man, me. we all take baby steps, every day.

start with getting an alarm clock, and use it every other day. caffinated drinks only before noon. eat a bit of fruit everyday. join the peace corps. you will find what works for you :)

years ago i fell into a wicked depression. try to become aware of your thought patterns ,they can form a circle. how often you find yourself thinking about the same thing . write all you problems down . then there on the paper and not in your head.now throw the paper away!  try to get outside on a sunny days. plant a seed for a flower or something you can eat.

Which kind of generator do you have?

Any pictures possible?

i found 3 really large nicad batteries that are about 5lbs each

Can you get here as a link or otherwise pictures of those? Why don't you try charging them.

Try to get real welding sticks, before trying to weld. Also a mask to protect your eyes is really important!

Can you get from anywhere free microwave oven magnets?

You might try making a generator of those.

I don't know about building a tazer, but you can build a decent cattle prod out of 4 D batteries in series, a mechanical buzzer, and a flyback transformer from an old TV.

A couple of other things:

  1. as a college instructor, I whole-heartedly believe that attendance in class is important no matter what.  Sure, you can do the bookwork and get B's and A's on it all the time.  But a lot of the stuff I teach (a) will never be found in any textbook, and (b) is more valuable in the "real world".
  2. Depression can be a medical condition.  If you are a student, get over to the student health center and get checked out.  Letting it go untreated just makes it worse in the long run -- which is sad because early on the fixes are rather easy (a bit more exercise or better food takes care of a lot of issues).  I should know -- I left mine untreated for too long, and now I face a lifetime of drugs, therapy, and constant vigilance.

I quite much agree with Alan Sheets concerning your school. I've been a long time a university lecturer of philosophy and I used to teach also many things you'll never find in any books. If you'll start attending your classes you are in any case going to meet your classmates and learn something from them if nothing else.

If you'll attend your school you'll anyway find time to build some alternative energy things.

On the way to the school and back to home you can keep your eyes open to start collecting cheap materials for your machines to be built.

You might start with microwave oven magnets... Please see also:

RSC:

Given the voltage you say are on those NiCds tells me they're near perfect. Hook'em up to the PVs and let charge.

They'll outlast the deepcycle battery by years:-)

Do not let them get down reading 0 as they tend to reverse their polarity at that point.

On attending school: I taught Auto and small engine repair in a couple of the high schools here in St. Louis quite a few years back. Attend eveyday if you can , it pays off in spades!! Part of the greades I gave out was attendance, no book learning or theory can replace the knowledge of actually doing it.

Depression : Get to the Doc!!

I will be honest and say I've never had any bouts but know several people that did and the sooner you get it under control the better.

In my current line of income, we see the medical studies going on for this and other types of problems and they are getting better everyday.

And stay on this forum, it'll keep you up and interested. Just take a look at the pics Otzules put up about his little mountian..... can't be sad looking that those.

Best of luck

wow.  Never thought of this a therapy board. :) :)

I like it.  Windmills and a group hug. :) :)

Started on the internet in one of those -- a good few years back now -- after some wicked PTSD go-rounds.  Comical looking back, but was not so at the time on the inside.  I behaved so badly that I actually got kicked out of my first on-line therapy group.

Later wound up in another group that was about as nutty as I was.  Met Mrs. Phil through that, and never had any idea before that life can be as happy as it can be.  Oh well, all works out for good when you let it.

I hear you on the cutting class part.  Nice thing we had for a lot of my Junior, Senior and above classes was videos.  Our classes were broadcast around the area, and you could check out the video if you wanted so you could do class at your leisure.  Other than that I suppose like life, 90% of it is showing up and going through the motions.

Can give you more details on depression, tips, management, etc., if you need, but I am not a therapist and do not play one on-line or in real life.  Need some pointers for good on-line groups for that?  A good group can really, really help.

The way you wrote this may reflect your depression, but if you came to me with a B.S. in hand and a resume that read like this you could forget about a job in spite of an A-B average.  If this is the way you always write you need some courses that require written reports to improve your writing style.  If you are in college you should ask yourself why you are paying good money for the privilege of personal interaction with a professional in a given field and then turning your back on it.  There is an attitude in our society that people have to be spoon fed their educations.  On the college level this does not and should not apply.  It is up to you to decide what your goals are and apply yourself accordingly.  Only you can live up to your potential.

As far as the depression is concerned, the college should have medical staff that you can talk to.  Start there.

well, im going to be honest, im a junior in high school, i love renewable energy, i am kinda really bipolar and im only in a down phase and i know it will go away in a week or so, i do usually attend school but i have a tendency of drinking too much coffee and going on week long benders where i dont sleep and my body forces me to oversleep when i do finally try to sleep. the thing is i kinda overstress about missing school because i have in the past missed too many days and cumed out of all of my classes @ the end of the year because of it, i hate to waste time because i feel like i wont get anywhere if i do so. that idea of joining the peace corps has been in my head for a while now because i would love to help people, thats why i want to go to college. the only reason i want to leave merry massachusetts is because i want to see if i can handle myself in situations away from where people know me and see if i can stand on my own u know. my friend suggested using a tv antenna for an electrode for an arc weldier. i do agree that i need to find protection for my eyes because afterimages are already a long lasting issue for me but its ok. i really do like how concerned you all seem. dont worry i was just REALLY stressed when i posted that and i was trying to find a way to make myself feel better about being alive by listing what kinda stuff ive been working on and have found recently. thanks everyone and i hope u all get alot of wind and cloudless sun.
