The school was 100 of the top science and math students in Pennsylvania at Carnegie Mellon University.  The students participated in around 15 to 20 projects and gave full presentations and submitted papers.

We used Ed Lenz's www.windstuffnow.com Educational turbines the first project laboratory session as a launch point to teach about wind power.  The students then designed and built their own turbines and recored experimental data.

Photos again, resized to be less than 100K.  Sorry about that.

Lenz Education Turbine Setup on the first project day

Component testing of custom alternator stators and rotor setups

The Wind Tunnel - for low velocity and low cost

Note fans draw air through the tunnel to avoid turbulence.  Constructed of art foam board with an inverse contraction cone at exit.  No contraction cone at air supply means students need to stay away from the opening to avoid inbound turbulence and other unwanted variances.  You can also see a three prop turbine built from acetate sheets around aluminum air foils from the craft store.  Haag-Streit anemometer in left foreground, and strobotach reflector in right foreground.

Hey great.

I like that 4 box fan wind tunnel

Let us know details on everything including how the tunnel works!

I am thinking of a tunnel design myself  but since I don't plan to be home anymore than required for the next few years I am very hesitant to build anything not portable.
