An inside look at the power building
« on: January 07, 2007, 04:53:22 PM »
The inside of the building has never frozen, coldest we have seen so far this winter is about 9 degrees.  The building is about 8x8 on the inside.  I first dug trenches on 3 sides with the backhoe.  Select thorn trees (yellow locust) were cut into 10 foot long logs and placed side by side and standing uprigt in the trenches.  I then backfilled around the outside and dug out the inside.  The top is made from railroad ties and some dirt on top of that.  The wind generator sits on top of the structure.

Also makes for a great storm shelter.
next time make sure your pictures have .jpg on the end of the file names. and don't use spaces in the file names.

JUST GOT BACK AND ABOUT 60 MILES AWAY I STOPPED IN A SAMLL TOWN AND LOOKED AT A SOLAR SYSTEM A GUY WAS PUTTING UP.  HE HAD TWO BANKS AND HAD ANOTHER SMALLER SYSTEM HOLDING TWO 6V BATTERIES AND A SMALL INVERTER. HE TOLD ME HIS LIGHTS IN THE STORAGE SHED ARE POWERD BY THEM SO IF HE HAS A PROBLEM WITH HIS BIG BANKS HE CAN WORK ON THEM AND HAVE POWER FOR LIGHTS AND THINGS IN THE SHED. SEEMS LIKE A GOOD IDEA. THOUGHT I WOULD PASS IT ON

I like this little shed, suits it's purpose well.  We've got a bunch of spiny flowering crabapple trees here that we've been clearing out.  This might be a good use for them. :-)
