Flower power......
« on: May 09, 2007, 01:44:30 PM »
I got this from

http://www.mothergoose.com/Whirligig/bigWhirl/bgwhirl.htm

and came up with this........

kinda ugly....so rounding the tips and painting

the center Berry Wine, and now it looks like this

looks better, I think with some coat hanger wire

on each blade to keep it from changing angle will

help a lot, but still doesn't have enough power

to turn the stepper motors that I have.....but

basically I'm making them to evaluate where to

place future larger windmills ....the bottles do

make a nice hub to affix slightly larger stiffer

blades that would drive one of my stepper motors.

(when taken, the blades where spinning fast

enough to be a blur....but the shutter speed is

too fast....need a cheaper camera....LOL )

I just like to watch spinning windmills !

I like it, wish I was aged six again :)

Apparently you can't go back in time though - unless someone here knows otherwise...

You guys can have that one. I decided not to fight with you over it. I have 2. I bought my first one used in 2011.

Then I bought a classic used one, A 2007 MODEL in 2033, and restored it. Guys wife gave me a good deal on it, something about her husband getting scalped by Crazy Horse or something. And her son was shot by Napolen. She said Her dad had bought it new for about $2000 from a friend on some forum, but he was impaled while jousting with the black night?

She said something about she wished they would have just stuck to building wind gennies instead? She said it was cursed she thought. Ya sure.

Oh well, it was a good deal, I gave her my un-cirulated 20 gold double eagles for it.

Well I'll see you guys last week sometime, I'm off Salem to find a couple old witches to spend the weekend with, I'm taking the 2007 model, chicks dig a classic.

Soon as I polish out my one owner Stanley Steamer I'm heading out.

The lower picture, is the 10:00 blade bent back?

How big is it?

I think it's the angle of the picture, blades on left side look a little shorter than on the right side to me. Nice little gizmo though, I like it better than a HF decoration and it costs less too.

Blades are actually all bent forward about 20

degrees...each blade about 1 1/2 inches wide

and 5 inches long....about 14 inches diameter

20 degrees at the root...been thinking of ways

to modify each blade to so that it would

be really more efficient would be  nice

to see it spin fast enough that it could run

the motor shaft of a cheap power screwdriver

I think it is about 4 to 1 or whatever...anyhow

it would have enough torque to run a small

water pump.....a few of them could fill up

a 55gallon barrel 6 ft. high. a waterwheel

hooked to an RT stepper...fun!

But in the meantime making a PVC blade large enough to spin a stepper....

....and The Swing....and mowing lawns....

too many "in the meantimes"

It looks like the blades are on bacwards in the first picture. Did you switch the m around? One old five gallon bucket might be better for stiffer blades. It looks good for a wirligig.

I used the teleporter and played the stock market. Now I have all of the money! and I don't play the market anymore. Yes I invented everything too and wrote a bunch of songs.

Yes ..it does look like the blades are on

backwards....but they're not...just an illusion

the 4:00 blade is the only one that looks right.

and Yes I've been thinking of cutting

blades from a 5 gallon bucket...just

slightly longer and gluing them onto the existing

blades....who knows I might be able to modify it

sometime to drive one of the stepper motors.

I was retired but thanks to you I lost all the

money I had in the market.
