CCFL lighting
« on: July 08, 2007, 12:44:10 AM »
Hey guys, here are some pictures of some small CCFL lights I built from some old scanner-guts.

They use 12V,and about 0.25-0.3A,each.

I also removed the mirrors from the optical assembly in the scanner, and used them behind, and beside the CCFL tubes,to direct/reflect the light a bit more,it seems to have helped! Some superglue, and a couple pieces of old fiberglass PC-board material, and  we have a pair of lights! I added a few LED's to one,to try to 'warm up' the light spectrum a bit,but they don't make enough light to compete with the CCFL tubes.

The light from the CCFL's is pretty white/blue.

In one picture the (dimmed)incandescent overhead light is on also.

Sweet, that looks like a nice product from a scrap appliance.  I've got an old scanner or two here. Maybe I can put something together...
