Which wire on vertical fan?

I'm not too much on trouble shooting electronics,

so I just gutted the whole works so basically I'm

just going to hook it up direct....maybe medium

speed am keeping the fuse and using it.

  Okay.....Now this motor has a black wire,brown,

yellow, blue, white, and red wires....now how do

I use a multimeter to determine which is the common

wire and the wire that I would need for one of the 3 speeds....I'd mainly just probably hook it

up for medium speed.

     Thanks for any help guys need the air out in

my shop while I'm making one of those low voltage tread mill motor fans.

Hi Norm

I would think Black/Blue/Red would be the speeds

White is common

Brown/yellow would be part of the start winding i think.

 If all else fails make a turbine out of it.

Okay Vawtman, I'll try that tomorrow probably put

it in series with a 20 watt 110 volt bulb for testing huh?  I'll let you knopw how it works out.
