« on: August 01, 2007, 09:03:23 PM »
Has any one made any cells with a DIY technology.. I would like to hear about it..

CATERPILLAR is dragging their feet on a release to the market place.. Hate to see China jump in with their version.. I see a long range car and sidecar bike in my future...

With over 1000cycles plus and 25% smaller size this is a true break through in storage..

Some audio info link...

If Caterpillar patented this development (and got the international patents as well) you're not going to be able to buy such a battery from anybody but them or their licensees until the patent(s) expire - in maybe 17 years.  Even if they're being made in countries that don't pay attention to the patents nobody will be able to import them.

The battery technology is being developed by 'Firefly Energy Inc.' website: http://www.fireflyenergy.com/

About the battery technology

From Firefly's FAQ pages:

Firefly are currently developing their first batteries to be used by large organisations (e.g. US Army), and are in discussions with 'several large companies in the automotive industry'... they have no plans to offer individual batteries to the general public for at least 2 years.
