my excercize bike video
« on: September 01, 2007, 07:16:14 PM »
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=4568294317440033985

the video shows the very low friction of the flywheel and alternator combination ,and the flywheel action

the alternator stator is made in sections of three coils each , creatively wired :) together.

it has 24 poles 18 coils when done ,9 on there so far.

i had a bunch of coils laying around so that is what i used.

the rotors and hub are from a motorcycle front brake and whatever kind of metal its made of it dosent rust , unlike the minigenII's rotors which are cast iron have rusted allready in spots around the magnets

i fliped one of the rotors around so that the gap between rotors is about 2.9" and with 1" wide by .875 dia. neo magnets that leaves a magnet gap of .9 inches

i used the hole pattern the rotors to drill the sprocket that is attached to the rotors .

the drive sprocket to the alternator is also a bicycle sprocket that i attached to the flywheel

Nice.  You'll get in shape and charge batteries at the same time.  I havn't had much luck with those trouble lights though.  Yours looks kind of like the ones I got for Fiji.  They had a one transistor oscillator and lasted a matter of hours.  I suspect it will really like the variable output from your pedal gen.  Rich
