Things I've been up to lately
« on: October 04, 2007, 08:10:02 PM »
I had an old 4 pole 5/8hp induction motor I had put 4 #29 curved neo's in a while back. I finally took it apart & did my first rewind ,of course if not for ready Zubbly's posts last year I would not have a clue.

Hears the rewind it's a 36 slot motor I went with 3 phase 6 pole -22 windings of #17 wire per coil.

The stator

The rotor

I had 6 foot blades that fell off a table last year , I will convert it to a 2 blader....

Also working on a 40 to 45 foot tower(Finally....)

Here is my old 11 foot dual rotor apart after over a year

based mainly on hugh's plans(thank you sir)

I had 1 burnt coil but I knew I had exceeded the limits a few times(unit still worked though..

This was the school project I did last year, it sat in front of a big industrial fan & had a 12 volt drill battery inside when the fan turned the "baby mill" the volt meter would go up, on the back there was a cooling fan that when turned on would show the change in the amps going into the battery with a small digital amp meter

Here is the start of a new dual rotor for my 11 footer, I am also thinking of trying one with the same round magnets dan is using know as I already have the steel plates & the stator mould

Hope everyone is having fun with wind. Should I be deleting old pictures out of my files once in a while? is there a limit?

Does this site except donations like others? I never see a thread for it...

Have fun all,I'll post the results of the reound 5/8 hp soon

Hi Devo

Did you try spinning the conversion yet?

I just came in from the shed from doing this on the drill press, I started a new diary on the conversion-it spins easier with the 6 mags by hand then the 4, not a lot but a little easier.

Devin

The slightest cogging can really hinder the startup of a turbine has you probably know.

LOL-  yeh the Flash on the camera really changed the colour of green. Maybe that will give it some extra juice..

The cogging should be ok , I had a 6 foot prop on it before & it started ok & it seems a little easier now.

I will try to get the prop on & get it on a test tower or the silo soon
