12' axial flux project

this is a shot of the 70' cable TV tower that I bought for 150.00


The crane to take it down was another 250.00  cheep tower

If you were anywhere near me, you would have recouped your losses by selling me those yagi antennas off the tower.  Oh, well.

whats the specs on the alt..

and you even got a plane[chopper] ride out of it...

 Sweet! I like the open land for clean air. I too bet you build a bigger one soon. You should get some nice power at that height. Is the water pumper working too? What area are you located?

The alt. is based on Hugh Piggot's 12' axial flux. It is a 16/12 with the coils wound with 74 turns of #16 wire 2 in hand. I my calculations are correct the unit is averaging 290 watts output

We are located 20 miles north of Maryville MO. in the northwest corner of the state. The windmill over the well could work if I would ever fix the pump...too many other projects

Mounting that tilt-up hinge so high off the base puts one hell of a side-force on the base segment during tilt-up/tilt-down.


I'd mount it right at the base, with the lower part of the hinge embedded in the concrete or bolted to it, or else add an extra guy from the base of the hinge to the anchor in the direction of the winch.

How far east of St. Joe. Missouri are you we are 20 minutes south in Atchison Kansas and there are other people here in Kansas and Missouri.
