finally got a weather station
« on: October 07, 2007, 06:05:31 PM »
finally i have a weather station up an runninig, so i can get some calkulations what windspeeds i got at my property, but as usual when you put something in the air its no wind, only got 8,5m/s today and now its only 3,5m/s. well well i know its going to be better, but with my luck its going to be calm for a week now :-) well the hole idea is to get some numbers to go from when its building time, my plans is to build a windmill to help heating my hotwater tank that i heat with wood now, but thats pretty far in time, "my" wind investigation started today, so maybe in springtime or next summer, but thats only good, the longer it takes for me to get started, more designs will be displayed on this exelent website, so maybe i don´t have to do so many foolish design on my machine :-) and yea my english s**ks..

Hello RCpilot

If it´s the eqipment you are intrested in I think it´s esyer if you surf in to http://www.heavyweather.info/ and look for WS 2300. When I have learned how to handel the pogram for the station I will post screendumps from windstatistics, I think it will be much help for those that will help me with desingning the windmill when that time comes. Mybe I should tell my location, The Aland Islands in The Baltic Sea, pretty windy place whit pretty long and cold winter, that´s why I´m intested in heating, that´s our biggest energy consumer, now with no windsuport im burning about 20 kubik meters wood per year, and if my dreams will come true I will heat the house with wind and suport it with wood when nessesery.

The better starter kit would be at http://www.aagelectronica.com/aag/index.html?target=p_1.html&lang=en-us

Much more of a do-it-yourselfer kit and it's not wireless. A lot cheaper though.

well i dont know the fetures about the "TAI8515 1-Wire Weather Instrument Kit V3.0" its probably good stuff, but the reson i took the WS 2300 is that it was resonable in price about 100€, and i dont have to have my computer on 24/7, the WS 2300 load over the info to the computer when i plug them together, and it have a "masterpeace" with a display with info about the wether that i kan watch without to have my computer on. about the wireless stuff i can mention that the WS 2300 also can be wired so you dont need to trust the wireless, the wire is included, but for now its wireless since i dont know where i want to drill holes for the wire, but its going to be wired because then it will have a update frekvency of 8 sec insted of 132 sec wireless, well well for the "invetigation" it dont mean anything, the only thing i may miss is toppspeed in gusty wind.

well today i find a feauture in the program to the ws 2300, after 99 saved data spots (one in an hour) it atomatic delete all data and start over again...well well lucky it wasn´t after 999 or 9999 data spots, now it was only abut one week that was deleted, should have bin bad if it was 9999 data spots, but now i know it so i will save the log when it get around 100. now it seams that the "calm week" is over, today it have hit 12 m/s and the tv wheter predicted gusts about 24 m/s tonight, so then i will see if it mounted right, i think it´s abit low, only about 3 meters over the roof, well i se if i have time this weekend, then i will take the hole tv antenna mast down an mount the wind probe on top of the mast, about five meters over the roof
