TILT!
« on: December 05, 2007, 01:08:42 AM »
Won't be typing much for a few weeks.  Twisted ankle and took a fall last Sat.  (Swan dive down the driveway into the street).

Badly sprained ankle (walking splint), mildly sprained knee (discolored but woking OK), broken pinky finger (looks like a furling tail with that bend just past the base joint - except that the next knuckle folds the other way so it looks like a furling tail with a bent boom), split scalp (8 stitches), miscelaneous abraisions.

Minor surgery scheduled Fri to straighten out the finger and put in a couple wires to hold it together so it won't fold back up while it mends.

No guitar playing until late Jan at earliest.  B-)

Not much pain today but the finger splint sure gets in the way when typing.

ULR-

Bummer!!!

I'd have to saw that your, "grounded",,.

LOL

So you need to try to take it easy on the body.

Some things never heal quite right and can cause major life changes.

(I know, from when my knee hit the dash so hard it pushed the femur right through my hip socket!, But the worst part was that the Doc's couldn't work on it for 5 weeks because of how bad my head was busted up. So I'm just very lucky to have been able to make it and the limp is just a reminder to be glad every morning that I get to wakeup and get another Day!)

:( about your fall!

:)  that you get more Days!!!!!

ULR,

Sorry to hear about the misfortunate accident. Glad you werent hurt worse. Earlier this year I also strongly believe I broke my foot. Weird thing is, I or no one knows how it happened! (and absolutely NO drinking was involved either)

My foot was black and blue and I seriously could'nt walk for an entire month. Worst pain I have ever felt in my life. Didn't have insurance- so I didnt go to emergency room.

Only thing I can figure is, since I sleep with my feet toward the wall, I must have done a 'Bruce Lee' kick into a stud in the wall in my sleep. Either that or an angel came down and broke my foot for some reason I don't even know!   -Take it easy!

Rod Your not tell us the full story here . Sounds like ice surfing . Lots of water and ginkgo to break up the clots when everything sets .If you needed some time off there's easier ways of making that known .Seriously though take it easy .No more ice surfing for you.

No ice.  Actually I was bending down to knock a dog dropping off the sidewalk (using a recently removed lawn sprinkler for a scoop) when my foot turned under.

Usually I can do the "don't sprain the ankle" hop toget it unfolded before damage happens but this time it didn't work so I came down hard on the ankle, still tilting over.  Second try (crunch) didn't work either and now I was going over the curb, head first.  Tried for a tuck-and-roll and got the right arm mostly in, but didn't have enough spin.  Think I broke the finger while strike-palming the ground with the left hand to protect the head from concussion.  That mostly worked (except for breaking the finger and skinning the palmover the joint).  But the glasses rode up and opened the forehead.)

From now on the neighbors' dog droppings get washed into the street with a hose.  Too bad I didn't think of thatuntil wife pointd it out at the e-room.  B-(

I'd call the neighbors and try to get them to remove the hazardous waste! Maybe there's a leash law or poo ordinance you could use as an incentive.

If it was me and it continued to be a problem I'd start collecting it. Once I had enough to make the statement they'd get a nice gift in their driveway. Return to sender.

That's just seriously messed up - getting all mangled trying to deal with something that you shouldn't have to. I hope you make a full recovery quickly. take it easy

so sorry you were injured.

the lady across the street from me was plagued by a neighbor's dog taking dumps on her lawn.

the animal control officer could do nothing without evidence as to what dog was guilty.

she was forced to wait until the dog was in the act and take a photo of the process.

nice one for the family album!

URL,

Sorry to here of your mis-hap.  Hope your on the mend.

My advise: keep the leg iced and high, leverage a bit more attention from anyone who'll lend it, write more here (typing with the other hand, of course).

Enjoy your knowledgeable contributions to the borad.
