Just a little bragg
« on: December 18, 2007, 04:47:03 PM »
Today is meter reading day at the Bryant house. So out the the box I go.  Now I'm expecting a larger kw usage this month as we had arround 10 straight days of rain.  I had to give up and do the laundry using the electric clothes dryer and we went away on an over night trip and used the electirc heaters to keep the pets warm as we dont like to leave the propane space heaters running with no one at home.

Well dispite this the monthly usage is down another 0.6 kwh per day and I used less than half the kwh's from the same month last year. 23.1kwhs maybe I need to hire Dan B. to build me a larger wind generator.

Maybe there will be a little energy left for the grandkids.

Jan;

Haha. The addiction process is complete.

There is no cure and you will never actually achieve satisfaction on a "final" setup.

Its a great feeling isn't it?

Welcome to the club.

Cheers.

The addiction process is NOT complete.

Only 10 days with dirty clothes?  Close, but not quite.

Those numbers sound great with couple sets of HF PVs and an Ametek!

I guess I should bragg a bit to, 12KWH/day mains charging two electric tractors, Chrismas lights, electric water heater, pump, furnce blower and all the other goodies of modern life,

Keep inconveniencing electrons, the more you work them the stronger they get.

I thought I was weird to keep going out to the meter and checking the KWH. I'm not alone. Down to 18 per day.

About 6kWh a day here but 4.3kWh of that is 2 servers running at 180w 24/7! Time to do a Damon and use a laptop! :-) My MacBook uses just 14 watts while idle.

Paying the min to keep the meter installed . I really like my electric floor heater I,ve rebulit it several times It's dumbed "Squatty little heater" .It uses too much to run Off my current daily charge so I Too watch the meter .I 'm going to hack the meter sooner or later to read it from the line .

There you go: ahead of me already!

I'm told that Macs are often racked instead of servers these days because power consumption is so low but performance is good.

I haven't checked mine lately, but installing the solar hot water system a few weeks ago should have made a substantial difference.  It's one of these:

When you said 23.1 kWh/month I was very impressed. I'm not so impressed now. :)
