Broken Dog
« on: January 11, 2008, 11:15:38 PM »
It is never a good day if your dog is not happy.

She is not happy.

I thought she was a goner.

She didn't stand, eat or drink for over 36 hours, so I gave her 200CCs of sub-Q fluids, etc.

I wasn't sure if it would help, but that's what I do when in doubt.

You newbies better keep that in mind if you see me in person.

Vet X-Rays say at least 2 bad blown disks.

One just above the pelvis. The other about the lower rib cage.

Vet guesses there is, or could be, a 3rd, nearer her skull.

She never thought much about jumping really high.

The worst is the area near the lower ribs.  It happened a while ago, but is healing.

The damaged area at the pelvis is old, but very sore.  We knew it often caused her pain, but never understood why.

She is on muscle relaxers and steroids.  No kidding.

And she can walk "outside" or to food and water again.

No sleep lately, but at least the dog ain't spoiled with pillows, flannel, Christmas raw hides, toys, and "special treats" that look like raw meat.

Her eyes are open, though she couldn't lift her head at the time.

Sorry to hear about your dog, ghurd.

My younger brothers dogs have the same problem and it's caused by jumping down off of stuff (usually the couch).

But then again they are miniture weinnie dogs with a long backbone.

Hope she gets better.

I am a "dog person", I actually don't mind cats, but...

I keep thinking that, no matter how ugly or poor I am, my dog will truly love me, to the point of fighting to the death to protect me.

I am human, but, I have been disappointed by humans...never disappointed by my dog...I hope the best for you and your dog. -Ron in SoUtah

Sorry to hear about that little cutie, hope she/he comes through it ok.  I have birds and their just as loving and loyal as dogs, I can't imagine life without my Macaw I call BooBoo.  He's the only thing that is a constant in my daily routine.

Best wishes to you and your little buddy!

... please overlook the part of having fun in my signature as I'm sure it's not fun at all right now.

That's sad...hate to see an animal suffer

especially one of the family...they look at you

like....what's happening?

Nellie has been waking us up in the middle of

the night only a sore ear but it's enough, have to

hold her for an hour or so every early in the

morning

Wind stuff I also have birds and many peolpe dont know what great pet they can be.

It's really nice to have one of them tell you "I love you"  even when you know it's becase you walked into the room with a bag of nuts in your hand.  ;-)

G what a cute dog hope she/he (missed that) getts better soon.  Please really watch her when she gets well as my doxie was doing really well after his first disc slip then jumped off the couch and well that was the last of him.  Promised myself no more doxies but there is one in my lap as I type this.

Thanks guys.

She is my little buddy, even if she likes my wife more.

She is feeling a lot better.  Not sure how the meds change things...

Yes, she's up side down...

And stoned out of her gourd.

G- Hate to hear bout' the busted doggy....the wife asks if pooch has some stairs to get up/down from the couch or bed. Seems to be a common thing for older pets.
