Wind

     The turbine itself is a set of those composit blades.  Six blades,

five foot diameter.

     The alternator started as a GM truck unit, I believe orignally

120 amp.  I installed a big Neo ring instead of the wound rotor,

and rewound the stator.  If memory serves, 19 wraps of #16 per coil.

That's all I could fit in.  At a measured 300 r.p.m. it puts out 35.5

volts, open circuit.  At the moment it is hooked up to four D8D

batteries--at 24 volts.  I have seen surges to 50 amps on really

windy days--like yesterday.  At the moment there is no furling mechanism

although when the snow goes I'd like to change that.  In really big

winds, it's a bit frightening.

bj;

You might consider giving each Diary you submit a unique name. That would make it easier to distinguish them.

Just a thought.

Don't let that distract you from posting as much as you've been doing.  You have a lot of great flow going in your diaries.  Thanks for airing your thoughts out loud.
