magnet positioning gig

Has any noticed that the magnet gig in Hugh's book is scaled down. I thought i had some problems last night when i completed the jig it looked a little small until i measured it and it was 10 instead of 12". Just courious if any body has let him know?

only reason i asked is because in the book it says that you can use the jig that is in the back of the book and line it up with the magnets and punch holes where they will sit. anyway i have got everything worked out. Just seeing if anybody else has ran across this problem

Did you get your copy of that book from us (Forcefield)?

The original that Hugh sends to be copied is on European format paper, which is larger than US size. For that exact reason, we make sure the company keeps the size the same, and adjusts the margins...  maybe they got a batch wrong. Or if you got your copy elsewhere... perhaps they copier wasn't aware of that issue...

Are the rectangles on the jig the correct size for the magnets you have?

I'll check our copies when I get a chance to be sure.

I would be reluctant to use any printed information as dimensionally accurate without checking it. I am sure Hugh's original would be life size but you never know what printers do in the various stages of production. In this age it is so easy to change the size of things and a printer would never consider the effects.

At least you have noticed it.

hi brian your looking at the wrong drawing.

 that one is for the smaller 4 foot you need page 31.

 its not a full scale drawing only a bit.

 so just use it as said in the book.

no i got everything worked out, the magnets are about 1/8" bigger than on papier, easy fix just wondering if any body else has noticed.

I know I'm having a bad day, but your post really left me with a headache.

First, Hugh has written several books. So which one are we referring to???

Second, Did you rip the page out of the book and attempt to use it as a

jig??

Or did you photocopy it (or scan it into your computer)?

Or maybe you just grabbed a compass and used his pattern as a guide???

As has already been said by others, maybe you used the wrong page?

I wish I could go fishing. We've been snowed in since January.

Got about 5 feet of snow on the ground. Broke the front

differential on my 1 ton pickup trying to plow out of here.

I had to give up big game hunting,neck can't stand the recoil anymore [Only 7 joints in the neck,i have 3 fused and 2 have been trimmed-only 2 to go]

sorry havn't been around went on a little vacation to Zion national park that place rocks. Every time that i go there i see something different.

The book that i have is "High Piggot's How to build a wind turbine". I am building a ten foot design with 24 magnets two rotors 24v. rotors just arrived Monday, They look awesome. I posted this comment to see if it was me doing something wrong or not, Sorry if my posts are vague but i put what my mind is thinking, and as everyone knows it is hard to explain something that somebody else might not understand. Anyway sorry if i am vague, all minds are different.
