Spring in the desert.

Just thought I'd throw up some photos of my newest addition. Bought two BP 150 watt panels and needed a place to put them. A friend welded up the rack and me and the wife poured the 800 pounds of concrete. Will be nice to have the extra power this spring to help run the swamp cooler. I left room for two more panels so I'll be shopping soon.

Looks nice, I guess theft and vandalism are not problems in your area, and that is great.  If I put those in my yard in the city like that they would be broke or gone in a week.  They look great.  I hope you get decades and decades of use out of you.   Rich

  Very nice :-) Do you have any problems with "night" critters chewing on cables?

Or do you pass them through a PVC piping on their way to the shed?

No problems with critters...four or two legged. I run the wire in pvc to the shed from the combiner box. All the controlers and inverter live in the shed

Bob, thanks for posting this. I hope to retire in a few years, and like many others my RE dreams (for my next place) are quickly being focused on a wind-turbine and as many PV panels as I can afford.


I have read that a single-axis tracking mount can increase output from 20%-30% (your opinion?). I still see many installations using the less-expensive solid mount.


What would you say is the price difference between 25% more panels or fewer panels with a more expensive tracking mount?
