Controllers
« on: April 12, 2008, 11:34:48 PM »
The last of the controllers is now complete - this one was the pump controller for the pool. It takes 3 inputs, one from the filter controller (which also looks after chlorine dosing etc), one from the solar controller (which checks the temperature differential and limits) and one from the wind turbine inverter. It applies the functions

FP = I.F + I.!S

SP = I.S.!F

where FP and SP are the 240v pump outputs for filter and solar pumps, I F and S are the Inverter, Filter and Solar 240v feeds into the controller. I'm quite pleased with my efforts and the stripboard logic worked first time!

The regulators for the load controller and the volt/ammeter have been changed to switchers - dropping from 28 to 5 volts with a draw of 100mA was cooking the linear (lm7805 style) regulators.

The safety switch and other high current parts are all assembled and working - the 100amp shunt fitted in quite nicely.

Just got to drop the tower (slowly!!) to improve the blade tracking and it will be ready for its proper mast and some real work.

Thought I'd repost this since several people have been castigated for putting in URLs rather than inline images.

The 3 transformers allow for the safe monitoring of the 3 mains voltage inputs - the outputs are rectified and 'ORed' together to provide the supply for the logic via a linear regulator. After the logic, MOSFET power transistors switch the relays to select the power source for the 2 pumps.
