Finally i have had time to work on my turbine. i finished all of the magnet rotors and assembled the genn. i only have it about ten feet in the air. and i am getting around 13 amps in moderate wind, enough to charge my four marine batteries. it takes about five to six hours to charge them witch gives me more light than i need. But when it comes to my tv it only lasts about four and a half hours. pretty cool to watch wind generate power! any way i am going to put it on its tower in a week or so and i should get a lot more out of the turbine. Well i was just letting every body know another success Thanks again Hugh Cant wait to build another and thank you everybody for the great help

I built one of hugh Piggott's 10' designs. I kinda cheated on the blades i used fiberglass instead of wood but the blades were almost free. Will put pics up soon, need batteries for my camera!! Cant wait until i get the correct batteries for my turbine. but not sure yet how many i will get the turbine to charge fully. I am thinking about eight 125ah batteries 1000ah should be enough but expensive!!!

I'm in the same boat - 10' Piggott mill running over 30amps at 24volts on occasion and not enough batteries to soak it up :-(

If you know where I can pick up 600Ah @24v in New Zealand for a reasonable priec, let me know...

How about getting one of those relays that the camper people use. When your battery is full, it will direct your power to something else. Like heat your house or water...

 The important thing is to keep it balanced. Match your batteries to your load, and your load to your turbine. The problem is we always want to use more power!

what is the most batteries that anybody has used on this particular system. I would like to go with 8 12v 125ah batteries do you think this is too much?
