New stator cast.
« on: May 04, 2008, 02:39:31 AM »
A littel more progress on Hughs 4 FT. genny.

The stator has 6 coils wound with 85 turns of two inhand 19 ga. This stator will be wired either star or Jerry riged with one fullwave bridge per phase.

I may make another stator to replace this one. It will have 340 turns of 22 ga. each coil for Jerry rigging.

It will use 6 fullwave bridges, one per coil.

A befor reson picture.

Same.

I held this one up to the light. You can see the light through the magnet shaped plexi. I left the plexi coil form spacers in place.

Some mechanical shaft and bearing stuff to do now.

Nice I couldn't resist posting my eggs in a frame here .I like this concept . I assume the frame bolts to the speaker basket flange . I'm going to use the stators as a chasis .

Hi tecker.

Yes the speaker basket will suport the stator. The speaker basket will also suport

the shaft and bearing asembly.

What are the specs for your alt. Magnet size, disc diameter, single or dual, coil turns count, wire gage, 12v or 24 v ECT ?

It's  it's a 12 16 setup the mags back to back on a 7 1/4  plywood blade small trailer hub with 7 1/4 blades for backing to the stator . the blades are a little light duty for the 1 x2x 1/2 mags but I think it's going to hold up .I have some mags I got form

Ed I 'm giong to try also .

Thanks tecker.

We'll need more pictures as your unit progresses. Also test results.

I have some of Eds wedge magnets also. I might be making my dual 14 magnet 11 coil alt with those.

i love to look at others work. so thanks for posting the pics.

its odd how we all do the same thing but differently .

i mean the same goal.   jerry can i ask what the white stuff is in the stater mould

. did you do that to save resin .

at the moment im making a second rotor . for a six foot . but its the same as the four foot hugh piggot.  . only different. six foot prop and two rotors . but still the same.

if woman all looked the same then life would be very boring.  so the same with wind gens.  keep the posts coming and pics. great work.
