Hybrid Wincharger - testing fine (photo)
« on: May 06, 2008, 06:15:40 AM »
Great to see winds over 30 mph after only the first week flying my modified machine. Furling is starting around 23 mph and is fully furling about 25 mph. This is satisfying after having a couple previous machines over speed even when fully loaded. Still much testing and data logging to do to help dial it in but it looks like 3-4KW will be the max. output which is right about what I was shooting for to be safe for 16' diameter. Data and updates to follow as it logs more time.  Dave B.

Looks great Dave! It's nice to get it up before the grass gets too long. I know it's hard to mow when the cables are all in the way.

Right about that, in fact I'm heading out on the tractor right now. I'll disconnect the gin pole guy wires now at the pole and drag them off to the sides into the tall grass still connected to the anchors. This leaves it all open to mow and hopefully I won't have to connect them back up again for quite some time to lower the tower. It's great to have this back up flying again. Thanks for the comments,  Dave B.

It's going to be nice when the grass is green and the power is coming in!
