Great project!!! Looks pretty fast, but how is it on climbing hills.  It would interesting to see the look on "Johnny Law's" face when he meets you on the road lol.

Nice work!!  I hope the Law will at least let you use it to the corner store and back.  May have a bit farther to go before its road worthy, keep us posted!!

Blessings, Snow Crow

its a five star project you got there.

The first day I took it on the road, I passed a street that had Johnny Law parked on it , but he was faced away from me , so I turned around and went back and passed right along side of him , I could see him looooking at me in the mirror, then he said nice ride as I passed by. I have driven past 3 so far, with only the one comment.

I have everything I need within a mile or so of here. I have driven do the corner store many many times already and even to the liquor and grocery stores. I drove trough a gas station and told people filling up "$4.00 a gallon my a**" just for a laugh. I even carried my mower and weed whacker to mow one of my lawns about 2 miles away from here, didn't even plug it in while I was there and made it home, these batteries are old and on there last leg, that trip kinda hurt them they got really low coming back up the hill.

I have a 10 watt solar panel charging a large 12v gel cell thats hooked to a 1200w Tripp lite inverter so every time its gets fully charged I use it to charge the bike. I use the grid most of the time out of necessity. Wind is on the way and the bike is on hold now, until I get new batteries and the Genny built.

That is really cool!

I like the fear in here eyes just before she comes to a stop. Tough little soldier!

I wonder about the bed frame material being too brittle, cracking due to torsion?

My split box spring frame broke after ~2 years.  2x2s hold it up now.

Faulty? Or split box spring placing the pressure in one spot? No idea.

Might be something to keep an eye on.

Your "windmill area" looks about like mine.  :-/

The bed frame seems to be pretty flexible, Ive wondered how long it will last too, but at least bed frames are free, if it don't hold up I will build another out of 2" square tubing

Nice, can you give some greater details?

What's the drive specs. I see her, doing what looks to be trying to switch off something but couldn't really tell.

I'm curious about the motor, voltage, speed controls etc.

My bad, used search the board instead of google. Found the older post.

Have you thought about using NiCd packs for the 24V setup? they can handle the abuse much better than the SLAs do.

Cheers

Thanks for asking Bruce, I wish I had some better batteries, the ones I'm using were picked up from the curb at least 5 years ago and have very little life left.

I had 2 sets of them and murdered one set on an electric mower I had put together, this set I took better care of but they are dying now.

I have a on/off switch beside the seat she was trying to flip, I haven't installed Curtis 1208 controller because I haven't made a bracket for the potentiometer yet.

wiredwrong;

I have an idea that might help. Send me an email to mine listed here.

I have a few, 18Vdc NiCd packs, they come in 5x3 Sub-c packs and can easily be reworked for 12Vdc packs.

Norm is the current guru on reworking these packs.

If all the you have are SLAs, you'll find these take the beating much better than those SLAs.

Bruce S

Plus the test you'll be able to do will help a few others with their designs too.

Thoughts?

I am interested, I tried to send you an email yesterday after remembering that you had offered NiCd's a few years ago, my email is wired_wrong2004@  yahell, or it may have came across as coke cap collector, I wondered if the Charger that Im using would be safe on them it was for a wheel chair and is rated at 4A, I also have a 5A charger of the same type. 24v of course.
