Bought 500 lumen 9W warm-white LED
« on: August 23, 2008, 08:28:29 PM »
This new light is to supplement my 3W cool-white (6000K) spot that I work by in the evenings, powered by my little solar PV off-grid system.

The 3W cool-white on its own can be a shade depressing (and I think also discourages sleep by being quite 'blue').

The new 9W dome light is very similar in efficiency, intensity and colour to a warm-white CFL of similar power (ie ~60lm/W), and while a little dimmer than I had hoped (a cool-white gets 20% more lm/W), it is good on its own and/or with the spot.

Even together the old and new LED lamps are speced to use less than my 12V (13W) CFL.

For a pic have a look here at the last update, just above the news bar:

The prices on these LED's shows most people are still very proud of them.  Nice looking light though.
