Sorry, it's not a Xantrex or an Outback and it doesn't make true sine waves. It just a lowly old Harbor Freight 400/800 watt. It was marked down to $24.99 and with the 15% off coupon that made it $21.24 or 5 cents a watt.
Now wait a minute, I know your thinking along the lines of "junk" but this inverter is going to see very light, intermittent duty. Instead of having one big inverter running continuously I want to have dedicated, point of use inverters for things I use when on Backup Power. The inverter will only run when the appliance connected to it is used and no two appliances will share an inverter. Compact TV, Computer, Fax etc will work off point of use inverters while fan, lights etc. will run off straight DC.
Certainly not the setup for a serious, off grid application, but for the occasional, backup power, camping, traveling use, it suits me.
