A long way to go...(locked)
« on: September 05, 2008, 03:42:33 AM »
So, here's the thought. Is it possible to have a gravity driven ball descend a large collection of ramps zigzagging back and forth (like on the mechanically designed gumball dispensers) passing paddle wheels hooked up as turbines and have all this motion captured and turned into enough voltage to power a motor at the bottom of the ramps that could then lift the ball back to the top of the ramps?   The lengths of the ramps would be, say, triple the height of the lift to the top. If an equal force is released by the ball going either up or down (Newton), then in theory, by increasing the distance it goes done, one could create a surplus amount of energy beyond carrying the ball upwards.  If, in this perfect world, the equipment were available to convert the energy efficiently enough.

I know only a little about physics, and even less of mechanics and materials, so any pros out there who want to consider this, please let me know if this is at all feasable or if I am just dreaming.  If it even is remotely possible, I'd like to try build this as a science experiment/art installation.  If you know it won't work, please let me know and save me lotsa time and money.  If it works, who knows what kind of micro applications something you could hook to the back of the house might have.

i canned your last post because there is no overunity allowed on this board what so ever and that order comes from the very top around here. i am leaving this diary read only for a few days as a warning any more of this crap from you and i will make your account read only and you will be talking to yourself because you won't be able to post here any more.

What you are talking about is a perpetual motion machine.

I can tell you that no one that i know of has ever been able to

do what you are talking about.

i would put your time and money in making a machine more efficient

as a science experiment.

I know where you are coming from. I to have thought of wild ideas

and found the error of my thinking. BUT!! keep thinking like you are

doing. and it will make you a better thinker :)

Neither. You're just retarded.

The force of gravity is the same going up or down. a ramp will not increase the available energy. Due to losses in generation and power usage this will not work, period.

Your last post got canned because this board doesn't do witchcraft.  Here was my response last time...

Understanding little about physics doesn't get you off the hook.

Perpetual motion in any way shape or form DOES NOT WORK.

My poor brother's task at the European Patent Office was to break the news as gently as possible to every applicant.

Would you start skydiving without learning the basics?

Ok I get it the device consists of a large  ball rolling down a ramp tripping paddle wheels connected to generators .

The paddle wheels need torque to turn a useful amount of work (parasitic to acceleration ) any one of the paddles could  stop the down hill acceleration of the rolling ball or at least slow down the the down hill motion as to equal out the and balance the total work of your charging cycle . This leave little or no power to return the ball to the top regaugeing the cycle .So your wasting your time with this device

I'll cut some red tape for you and say your loved ones don't need you to come up with a device that hit's the jack pot . Just spend less play time and more work time .Find a new bar or bowling alley or arcade to go to where the environment moves you to make positive changes and consider less "the get rich quick" scams . You might have stumbled on to an analogy here that relates to  the Gram parts of your life up to now here .Rolling from from dead end to dead end putting your training on hold .
