Big Wind Day

I came home to see this on my PicLog.





Today's collection is over 3.5 kWhrs, and it's not even 7PM!

I'm thrilled!

Upon seeing this, I unplugged the horses' water trough electric heater from the grid, and plugged it into my "Wind" outlet.  I installed that last month, specifically for this purpose.  Hehe I get to use it already.

With a 1500 watt electric heater draining the energy, it won't take long before I should stop and switch back over.  For now the 400-600 watts are almost keeping up with the heater (which has a 50% on/off cycle).


Observant folks shouldn't get upset by the RPM reading - that's the erroneous data that come from reading AC directly.  The noise "doubles" the frequency.  I'm just as likely to see 500W at 500 RPM as I am to see 500W at 1000 RPM.  Pretty easy to filter out later.

Up to about 4.7 kWhrs now.  Yippee!

The wind is slightly abated, now.

Seems the electric water heater won't heat water if the temperature is above freezing - so it only dumped out 0.22 kWhr before the thermostat kicked out.  It skimmed the top off the batteries, so the voltage is back down in the 28's, but rising again!

Hmm, sorry to say, but, if you were not "hooked" yesterday, you certainly are now!


Now you should push it to the web so you can spy on it from  the field. Nicely done. I do appreciate the value of logging.

I kept a log of my amp hours pulled out of the 48V battery bank before I replaced it.  It was exciting to see it climb as time progressed.  I was up around 1.34 MWh before I changed it out, of course that was over about 27 Months.  It looks like you will be able to collect more data automatically with your setup.  Rich

 How did you get the data on your computer? What did you hook up to to your sytem to get the readings?
