5 ft axial turbine
« on: December 04, 2008, 12:11:10 AM »
i built a 5ft two blade turbine i used a car water pump for the bearings and shaft. it has a4bolt hub and part of a belt pulley.welded to brake disc from a mobil home electric brake 10.5 " diameter.with 12 1x2 mags . 14 gauge wire 49 turns.  it seems to work out pretty good. it is on a vice in my driveway.i will try and put it up on a windco tower i sold the 6ft wind co.that's the reason for building it that small. i already had all the stuff  left from other projects. it only has one rotor. but it may be stalling a bit. think i will carve 6ft 2 blade for it.i can build a blade from a 1x4 in a bout an hour much easier than a three blade . and they spin allot faster.

built a few of those 2 bladers myself...

tried em on a few diffrant alts..always seemed to vibrate a bit..

built mine out of 2by4 and 2by6--they are fun to carve out..

heres a shot of my minne mill with a 2 blader--its been running 24/7[when theres wind]

for a few years now--it just lites up the L.E.D.s on those arms ..

fun to watch at nite..its powered by two hard drive mags..

i built the blade my for the 6ft windco that i sold. made it from 1x4. they have very little starting tork but work well on a machine that has no cogging. i will post some pictures when i get it finished.
