Got back from warm holiday, and my new tach was waiting for me. A new
TOY!! A little playing, and noticed I was getting different results from
known sources. More testing, and as a result, in my previous posts, when
I quoted rpm-tested, insert "guessed". Should have known, but trusted
old faithful. Tested old faithful with a ten pounder.
Rectifiers-got worried after many comments on these, so tested eight of
them. Used my welding bench as a heat sink, and pushed them up to 20A at
about 16V in. One failed right away, not hot, just went open. Actually,
thinking about it, it probably was open before I started. I am not sure
if I want to trust them now.
BTW I'm pretty sure that getting on a plane at +35C, then getting off
at -27C with a stiff wind isn't good for you.
