so far I still working on things
« on: March 25, 2009, 03:33:32 AM »
well for my first mill I'm going with 21 gauge 315 turns 9 coils for the stator and making laminated cores for the centers. the rotors will be 96 magnets, cercamic

1x2x1/2 stacked in groups of 4 2 NN,SS,NN,SS . I had a friend do a femm sim. this will get the best output with the magnets i have. I'm also have a small solar setup from hf. its charging up over several days my 2 banks. I, also playing with a old regant fan that I converted to a pm using 6 of my ford stater magnets. I'm only geting open volts from the 1 red lead. I guess I'v got to rewind it to get the most out of it. It has 36 slots. good starter to learn on.

here is the photos.

thought you may get a kick out this:

my shop is made from pallets. walls are 2 rows of 4x4 pallets stacked up. the floor is 3'x16' pallets with 2 layers of 27/32 flooring. got hte idea from a geltman that has had one for more than 20 years. and termites have not touched it.

Those are some honk'n batteries you got there. Are they all hooked together to be charged off the what looks like a HF solar set?

I like the reuse of the pallets. Those are usually made of good hard wood to hold up to the load. One I get are mousy little white oak, but once dried they sure make for a nice fire during winter :))

I'm pretty picky about the ones I use, don't want to burn any that's been "treated", nasty stuff after they are.

Have Fun With IT!!

I do not know where all this fits, so I put it here.

First. You have access to a slew of Ford starter magnets.  From Ford starters I imagine.

Lots of nice magnet wire in GM starters.  Comes on a handy spool. Larger dia than degaussing coils.

I figure either starters are starters, or you can get more types than only Ford.

Second. Looks like you have a lathe.  Might try 4 of those starter magnets in a 6 pole fan motor.  Easier to make more power than the ceiling fan motor.

why so many winds per coil? are you going to rectife each coil like jerry did awhile back-on his 11-14 alt.?

i built a 8&6 3phase alt awhile back using mags like yours--4mags per coil..

#14 wire-50 or 60 winds-been awhile..wired in star-dual 12" rotors...

hooked it up to one of my pedgens to test..cranked out 2 two 3+ hundred watts..

mags blew off of one rotor when i was trying to light up a 400watt 28v landing light.

close call-could feel the brezze of the mags flying past my face[forgot to install

my guard-just a old motorcyle fender over rotors]..

well i reglued the mags back on-with nylon tape around the ouside for extra hold..

made a blade for it--tossed it up on the top  of my motorhome to test--tail was hanging

off the side--gust of wind came by and blew the dang thing off the top of my motorhome

before i could grab it-damm...its still sitting in my shop wating for a rebuild...

heres a few shots off the alt...

the batteries are two differant banks. one was 6 agm communication sealed batteries. 340 ah at 12.6 volts each. the second set are 5 deep cycle 12volt batteries. I got them from a gem car that I rebuilt for the dodge dealer in town.
