Solar ceiling fan has been running 24 / 7

It has warmed up and the solar ceiling fan has been running 24 / 7. I pulled out the special controller I got Ghurd.to make for me a while back. I put it together and mounted it in an old HF controller box. It will shut off when the batteries get below 12.6 or near that. Turns back on at 13 volts. Like at night or low sunny days it will not keep pulling the batteries all the way down. I ask him to build this for me because I was tried of cutting the fan off and on manually.

It is working great so for. You can read my files to see what I have been doing. I have 290 watts of solar and 600 Ah's of batteries so for. Yes I got around to mounting the 2 100 watt panels I bought a while back. The next step is to make the fan go to half speed at night or off. Full speed it pulls 1.5 amps + or -some. I have half speed set at .75 amps. I also run my network hub and modem run off a 140 inverter. Also a lamp next to my computer at times. 600 Ah's pulls down faster than you think with this little load on it 24 / 7.

I love the 2 new panels I have seen 11 amps out of my solar array at times. The home made solar tracking is still working great. Prints to it is in my files also.

     Why not dedicate 1 solar panel to the fan so the fan will run only when the sun is up and run faster with full sun, slower or off with less. Am I right in assuming it is a DC fan? The rest of the panels can go to your batteries.

   Cannot prove this yet, but I think G- made these things to be addictive. :-))

The more you find things to make work with these the more you find they can do,,,SOoo you then need another cause the little buggers are so handy.

Sorry, misread your post. I thought you wanted the fan off at night.

     In that case sounds like another happy Ghurd customer.

I think it should have a better name than Ghurd's controller. Ghurd's Magic controller at very least.

"Ghurd's controller" is about as good as it gets.

Here is a HF Controller at it's best. It is now a FAN Controller.



I wired it to the termainals going out the back. BAT to BAT. Solar to Fan. Asyou can see I am useing clip on wires for now until I put it all together.

It is 6 AM and you can see the controller is on but the other led is off. The fan shut down durring the night just like it should. I have got to come up with a better and smaller speed control. This is what I am useing now.



Hook up to one end and find the sweet spot in the center for the current draw you need. I need something I can put in the old HF / New FAN Controller housing.
