This is a continuing of my previous diary entry.

here is the current link to the forum, for, http://www.flashsteam.com

I would like to point out a couple differences ive noticed, it seems easier to post with the SMF. Its also easier to upload patches. I like the SMF better. Im also working on a forum for this domain http://www.biscaynefishing.com I will definitly use SMF for that forum.

I have been working with moderators to cutdown on spam, since I preffer to have users be able to authenticate themselves, since they may be motavated to make a contribution, a speedy registration process is needed in my opinion.

So far so good,

I noticed that the new forum does not seem to attract as much spam.

However, migrating existing users from the old forum is a real pain in the %##. It seems the reality of such a prospect, is that all existing users must re-authenticate with a new password in order to keep there username. Also its a tedious process for ADMIN. No matter the software changing from or to.

I have always liked Scoop's look and feel. The reason Im using the software im using is because I get a clean install thru my hosting service, with the software ive tried.

I noticed there was alot of support for Scoop. In this case preserving the look and feel of the board in its current configuration with the "front page" the way it is, is obviously very popular...

Im wondering, if the SMF, which seems very simular to Scoop from the user veiwpoint, could be customized, to capture the configuration of this very successful board configuration, using Scoop... Or flat out hire some of those dudes with pocket protectors, to enhance the Scoop instalation here on fieldlines.com This may be a better solution, and possibly require less work, to pull-off, that outright changing board software. Like I mentioned in the first diary entry, my board is so new, that its far,far more easy for me to change board software.

Just a comment on the front page. The menu selections are very hard to read without high lighting each one to find out what's there. Sorry but I quit looking after only a couple. Dave B.
