Like everyone else this time of year, I have a huge pile of leaves. I also have a hot tub that sucks alot of energy. I've heard of using compost to heat things before, but how much heat does it really make? What if I make a coil of copper pipe, put it inside a 55 gallon drum, and make compost around it, then pump water from the hot tub through it?
How much heat could a pile that small generate? Even if it just warmed the hot tub a few degrees it would help it to warm up faster when I want to use it.
