Apples for power
« on: May 18, 2009, 03:24:20 AM »
No I'm not talking about putting an anode and cathode into an apple....

I have an orchard of many hundreds of pear and apple trees.  They were planted by my uncles cows about 30 years ago. Out of that number there are probably 5 that are good for eating, the rest are not edible. Flavors range from mealy nothing to very tannic.

I was wondering how to turn these into  some sort of alcohol or other fuel to put in a generator for electric or burn for heat. Biomass used in some way???any ideas. I have tons literally.

the more I clean them out of the orchard of bad fruit the less the bug and disease problems I will have. Then maybe I can graft the good apples onto the bad trees and have a fruit orchard worth something.
