I'm in NC and have about a 4/12 pitch to the yard- my backyard deck plans include a surround for the hvac unit open to some automatic crawl space ventsat its base -an addon with a gate on the downhill shady side of the house. crawl space air cooling so to speak- cool air in a bucket on a hot day.
