Hydro experience yes.

Before you decide to use a Harris Pelton, look other places like Joe Hartvigsen that has Turgos that can be ordered at a very economical price and adjusted for your site , he will assist you well: turgo_gen@yahoo.com .

What scheme do you have now ?.

What are your plans for that water source ?.

The Banki if properly adjusted and placed will have most of the stream passing over the shaft before hitting the second outer blades, all depends on the exit angle of the Banki Blades and the nozzle water velocity as well as how and where the nozzle is applied to the Banki .

The Nozzle should be placed such that the water hits more than one blade, I have built them hitting 4 to 8 blades ( no vibration will occur) hitting a single blade will generate vibration and reduction of power.

Rod:

6 is an "reduction " of 9.81 (gravity) * 0.6 (overall efficiency) = 6..

Just to make the calculation easier and faster.

Vtbsr, you're right, you really shouldn't need the decreasing pipe for speed, speed should be derived from the relation between pressure, flow, and opening size, at least that's the way it works in irragation.  Maybe Nando would be of use on that one

It looked like the water's just getting sucked in off the surface... Why not draft it with an upside down p-trap from a few inches under?

It would keep floating debris out without sucking much off the bottom - but there would probably be a buncha scum trapped nearby..
